SARCRAFT News March 2018

-          Our first-ever seminar with REI was a huge success! Winter Wild Edibles covered the basics of why knowing edible plants is so important for wilderness survival, the Universal Edibility Test, and went over the uses of three plants: White pine, common cattail, and plantain. We made a lot of new friends, some of whom are already well-established in the SARCRAFT family. (Looking at you Chandra, Jay, Mary Ellen, and Eugene…) Right now we have a tentative date for June for our next course at REI, The Science of Staying Found. We’ll keep you posted – we’d love to see you there!

-          As you may have already heard, we’re on the YouTube, baby! Our friend Kevin Keegan did a fantastic job shooting and editing this video titled EMPOWERMENT. We couldn’t be prouder of how it turned out, and we believe it will be a strong way for us to share our story for a long time to come. Stay on the lookout for plenty more quality video content to come.

-          This past weekend, we attended the Georgia Bushcraft Spring Gathering for the first time ever! It was certainly a weekend well spent. We won the one-log fire challenge, partied hearty with Todd the Survival Sherpa, heard some great jungle stories from Joe Flowers, and got a one-on-one atlatl making lesson from Kau’i Morehead… lots of friends were made, lots of whiskey got drank, and we laid the groundwork to serve as instructors at the Fall Gathering! Learn more about Georgia Bushcraft at https://www.georgiabushcraft.com/. They’ve got something really special going on, and it’s definitely worth going to. Check out event photos below...
