Going off the grid successfully is inherently a community activity. You need people to watch each other’s backs and carry the weight of the situation together. And community can’t happen without communication. When it’s a post-disaster situation where communications networks are down, or you’re venturing into an area of the world where those networks simply don’t exist, it’s vital that you be able to stay in touch with your team, tribe, squad, family, crew, or expedition members. This course will show you how to do exactly that. Instructor and emergency communications coordinator Bob Johnston will walk through the basics of various types of radio communications, frequencies, bands, and all those terms you may have heard before but never knew how they worked. We’ll learn how to use a variety of different comms devices, proper radio etiquette and legalities, and how to build or improvise your own offgrid communications devices in the event of an emergency. Yes, we’re going full MacGyver. This is a tremendously valuable skill set – don’t miss your opportunity to learn it hands on from an expert!
