Sunday Afternoon Preparedness:
Surviving the Riot
A twice-monthly, family-friendly workshop covering a wide array of preparedness skills.
We’re in a tense season in this country’s history. Folks are taking to the streets for a host of reasons, and while most of it is peaceful, there’s always the chance for it to go downhill fast. All it takes is a few bad actors to escalate an already uneasy situation, and unholy hell breaks loose. Store windows are getting broken, a car’s on fire across the street, and cops are lobbing gas canisters and rubber bullets. The air is thick with anger, fear, and CS gas. At this point, your only responsibility is to GET OUT, and do so as quickly and safely as possible. While we all know that the best way to survive a riot is to stay the hell away from one, we also know that’s not always an option. In this half-day course, we’ll be covering a host of skills and tactics to get out fast, including “going grey” to not draw attention to yourself, countering riot control tactics (such as tear gas), useful things to keep in your kit to stay safe, what rights you do and don’t have in a riot, and even how to help others caught in the crossfire.
How you found yourself in a riot is none of our concern - whether you’re exercising your First Amendment right to protest for justice, or you’re just caught in the wrong part of town at the wrong time - our mission is to equip you with the knowledge and skills to make it out safely.
